My Invisalign Experience: Price, Process and Results
Procedure specific satisfaction rating
I am 24 years old but when I was 22 when I started with my first tray of Invisalign. I went to my local dentist in Campbell, CA, Dr. Carol. I did not really shop around for quotes, I felt I hit right in the average. I paid $5,000 for the entire Invisalign treatment and $500 for the X-ray. My dentist explained to me the basics of Invisalign and after the consultation I decided to proceed. My first appointment was to take impressions, after about 5 days I got called in to see the 3D work, so exciting. In the 3D imaging, they show you the process that each tray is going to make on your teeth, all the way to the finished result. I wasn’t 100% satisfied with the finished results they were showing me, and still felt like there needed some work to be done. I will tell you that finished product looks much better than what they show you in the 3D imaging so please do not get discouraged. About a week later I got my first tray. My god it hurt. The first tray is so tight and uncomfortable it feels like little knifes poking you, perhaps I got a bad set, because the second set felt great, well it never feels great but it didn’t bother me, let’s leave it at that. Every 2 weeks you get a new set, I was very good about keeping mine on as much as possible, except a few days a week I had to have it out for a solid 7 hrs., but I don’t feel as if it made a huge difference, the tray still fit. I was highly insecure about it, I would not smile in pictures b/c I felt like you could the plastic, but it is definitely better than braces. As the weeks go on you start to feel more comfortable and you learn to speak without a lisp. I finished 25 trays later. I was happy with my results but not ecstatic, I am a perfectionist with certain things and beauty is one of them. I went back to my dentist to do 5 more sets, but I did not feel like those 5 sets did a whole lot, but it did help a little. I am super happy I did it, I look back at my smile and my teeth before I started the Invisalign journey and I cringe I do not regret my decision to do this, it was the best money I ever spent.
