My Microblading Experience at Dr. Leslie Gertman's Office
Hi! My name is Krystina and I am 30 years old. I got Microblading done in NYC at 149 East 62nd St. 1A, New York, NY. The owner is Dr. Leslie Gertsman and she is a Celebrity Aesthetic Physician. The girl who did my eye brows was a Microblading and Eye Lash Extension Specialist named Anastasia. Going into the consultation, I did not know too much about Microblading. I knew it was not permanent and from photos I have seen, the hair strokes these artists made looked amazing. I got married in January, so I figured it would be a perfect time to try this.
When I was younger, I had a birth mark removed on my forehead. Because of this, one of my eyebrows was always higher than the other. I told this to Anastasia and she pulled out an intense measurer. She measured my whole face and drafted lines as to where my eyebrows should be according to my facial structure. She showed me with a mirror where she thought my eyebrows would look best. I told her that I loved the placement. She gave me the option of making my brows a little thicker. I told her that I did not want very thick brows but minimally thicker would be fine.
After she drew the eyebrow measurements on and we agreed on thickness/shape/color of the brow, she numbed my brows. This numbing only took a few minutes and it did not hurt at all. The numbing was applied with a cream. After the numbing, she began Microneedling. Not going to lie, it kind of hurt. Not uncomfortably painful but I did feel some minimal pain. The areas of the brow closet to my hair line is what hurt the most. Each brow only took 15-20 minutes. Once she was done with the actual Microblading, she took Henna Coloring (that she thought would best match my hair color) and added a very thick layer over my brows. That layer sat on my brows for about 15-20 minutes. It did not hurt but it did sting just a little. After that, she wiped down the brows and plucked/snipped any hairs that were out of place. The whole entire process took about 1.5-2 hours, which included the consultation.
I was immediately in love with my new brows. They were much darker than I was used to but Anastasia told me not to worry because once they are done healing they will be 75% lighter than that. The next day I woke up, with no makeup on, and was a little scared when I looked into the mirror. My eyebrows were dark as night and very thick looking and hard feeling. I was told to lightly apply grapeseed oil throughout the day which helped immensely. Once I applied makeup, the brows did not look as bold. After 2-3 or so days, the brows almost turned into scabs. I kept applying the grapeseed oil all day long. Finally, after day 4-5 all the scabs were gone and underneath the scab was the thin, fine hair like stroke. You really are cutting your skin and applying the henna color so in order for those cuts to heal, they scab first.
I went back a few months later for touch ups. It was the same exact process expect a lot quicker. She just goes over or adds anything that she thinks needs to be added. She also made sure that the color healed right. Mine did but if it did not she would have added more strokes with a better suiting color. This whole process took only 30-60 minutes.
I was extremely happy with my results and do recommend this procedure. Anastasia said it is almost easier/more fun for her to work on clients who have little-no eyebrow hair because she can truly make your shape suited to your face. I literally do not have to wear eyebrow makeup. If anything, I use a little powder to blend everything in. The whole procedure costed $1400, including the consultation and touch ups.
