Procedure review

Doctor: R. Jessie Edwards RN,MN, FNP-BC

Price: $650 per vial / No charge for me as staff

I had one session done, using two vials. The nurse practitioner, Jessie, used a grid like device that came with the product to mark a grid underneath my chin with a pen. The injections themselves weren’t painful, and there were many injections using two vials. But once the injections were in, I felt a fair amount of burning sensation which I didn’t like AT ALL. It wasn’t enough for me to need to get up and stop, but I didn’t like it. I pushed on, and was discouraged from icing the area because it helped to promote swelling, which was a good thing. The total time took about 30 minutes for the actual treatment, and I had numbed with numbing cream for about 40 minutes prior.

Afterwards, I experienced allot of swelling which is normal, and it was tender. Even my husband wasn’t able to tell that I “did” anything, but I noticed that my double chin area was swollen. I was told not to use aspirin products to prevent extra bruising, and not to work out for at least 3 days. I also experienced swelling for a lot longer than expected, about 3-4 weeks. I saw a noticeable difference after more than a month. During that time, the swelling turned into a jiggle like effect, like a “gobble” underneath my chin, which is normal, and I felt small hardened ball like nodules underneath my chin as time went on. Jessie told me to massage them when I could. They disappeared, and the tenderness went away within a month.

Since it took a while to see the benefit, I DID get discouraged at first. But I’m very glad I went through it, now I actually show a jawline and it looks like I have a thinner face over all, plus it’s meant to be permanent (permanent destruction of the fat cells underneath the chin). I’m very pleased with the results, it took about 3 months to truly notice the difference and it’s lasted!
