Really Happy With The Results of My Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments
Procedure specific satisfaction rating
My name is Jaclyn and I am 24 years old. I live in Gilbert, Arizona and about a year ago I decided that I wanted to get one of my unwanted tattoos removed. First off, let me start by saying I do not hate the tattoo. The tattoo artist didn’t get the ink in correctly and it began to fade out in the last 4 years that I have had it. So instead of getting it touched up by another artist, I went for removal instead. I’m glad I chose this option, as I would like to have bare skin on the back of my neck again.
After a bit of searching, I chose a company called Laguna Laser Hair and Tattoo Removal. They are also located in Gilbert, Arizona. I contacted them and was able to set up an appointment that same week.
When I got there, the place was very nice since it also provides spa treatments. I met with Alexis, one of the certified laser technicians and I now request her every time I go in, since she is very friendly and she made me less nervous about the entire procedure. After talking with her, I decided to go ahead and have my first treatment. She gave me an ice pack to place over my tattoo for a few minutes, so that the laser would hurt less. I do not know if they provide any other kind of numbing treatments, but because my tattoo is small, the ice pack was enough for me. I sat down on a chair by the machine and we began the tattoo removal treatment. She tested a small area first to make sure I was comfortable with it before continuing and told me to let her know if I needed a break.
The removal process does hurt, but I don’t think it’s any worse than getting a tattoo. They are essentially damaging the top layer of the skin with each laser treatment, so it is never going to be a pleasant feeling. If I could compare it to anything, I would describe it as a shock type sensation and it does sting a bit. Each time I go in, the process seems to hurt a bit more but it’s because she goes over a few areas twice. Still, it’s not that painful and I can sit through it just fine. The machine that they use blows cold air on the spot being treated, which makes the stinging or burning feeling less noticeable.
My tattoo is an outline of the state of Maine in black ink, which is why the process only takes about 5 minutes each time for me. After the procedure is done, Alexis puts aloe vera on it, which helps tremendously. So far, I have had 4 treatments on it and every time it has bled a bit. I have also had slight blistering the last 2 times after the procedure, which they told me is totally normal.
Recovery for tattoo removal is extremely easy. They told me to keep it out of the sun, keep it clean, and continue putting aloe on it. It takes about 2 weeks for the treated area to heal and see the results of the treatment. For me personally, it feels like a sunburn for about a day and then it’s completely painless. It does scab and get itchy so that’s when I add more aloe. It has never left a scar or any other mark on my skin.
Overall, I’d say I’m happy I chose to get tattoo laser removal and I like the place that does the treatment. My tattoo is not completely gone yet, but it should only take a few more treatments, since it is black ink and that’s one of the easiest colors to remove. As I said I have had 4 done so far and I’ve been able to see a difference after every treatment. The place I go to charges $50 per square inch of tattoo. I pay $60 for mine each time I get it done, which does add up but I feel like it’s worth it.
