SmileDirectClub Was Definitely Worth it! Low Cost, Great Results With Before and After Pictures To Show You!
I never thought about the look of my teeth until my sophomore year of high school. I used to work at a daycare center and this one day a preschooler asked why I had holes in my teeth. I did not know what he was talking about until I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I saw that what he was calling holes were actually gaps in between my teeth. Ever since that moment, I became self-conscious about my teeth and stopped smiling when taking photos.
Towards the end of my senior year of high school, I was planning on attending a 4-year university, but I did not want to go to college with my teeth all spaced out. What I did after graduating high school changed my life. I decided to attend a nearby community college to save money and use that saved money for braces. I was ready to finally get traditional braces and get my perfect smile until I got quoted $5,000 for braces. That was too much money for me. I was working a minimum wage job, while paying for remaining costs of my college classes. I really wanted to get braces, but I knew that I would have to take out student loans if I wanted to afford it at the moment.
One afternoon, while I was scrolling through Instagram, I saw an ad for the Smile Direct Club. I thought it was too good to be true, but I was interested. I researched their website, watched YouTube videos, and read reviews about Smile Direct Club. When I saw the cost, I was surprised at how affordable it was for me. It was $95 for the dental impression kit and $1,500 for the treatment. I went for it and I’m glad I did because it has truly changed my life.
For the Smile Direct club, I never had to visit a local orthodontist or dentist, because the entire treatment plan is done remotely through their website and by calling their customer service department in Nashville, Tennessee. I did the smile assessment and then received the dental impression kit with the molds at my home and I had all of my new aligners mailed to me. This was great, because as a college student, the last thing I wanted to do was miss class time for dental appointments. All of the aligners arrived on time, if not earlier than when I needed them. I was able to take couple of them that had arrived before I needed to use them and go out of the country for a month and not think about falling behind on my treatment plan or dental office visits.
My experience with Smile Direct's clear aligners started out rough, because when I first got them, I started my second year of community college. The aligners gave me a slight lisp, which made it awkward for me to talk at first but after a couple of days, I got used to having them on my teeth. I would also bleed sometimes during the treatment, but it was never that bad. This was because my teeth gaps were so big that they had gums in between my teeth. It would usually happen during the night and I would just wake up with a little bit of blood in between my teeth due to the movement of my teeth cutting into my gums. Another odd thing about my treatment, was that the molars covered with the aligners would make holes into my aligners, but this was on me because I found out that I grind my teeth while I sleep.
A lot of people did not know that I had aligners at first, because of how clear they are. This was nice, because the aligners were not noticeable in photos unless there was a flash. This was great, because it made me feel comfortable to start smiling with my teeth. I have noticed that I now smile so much more than ever before and no longer feel uncomfortable talking to people who have straight teeth because I also have perfectly straight teeth. I had the aligners for nine months, which is not a lot of time compared to traditional metal braces, which were going to take 2-3 years to straighten my teeth.
In the fall of 2017, I will be transferring to a 4-year university with straight teeth. I am glad to have attended a community college for two years, which allowed me to save money and invest in my new smile. I now feel satisfied with my teeth and ready to smile at all of the college events I'll likely attend in years ahead. I highly recommend Smile Direct Club to anyone that wants to perfect their smile, while avoiding metal wires and saving money.
