Two Dermapen Treatments Helped With Acne Scarring
I went to the Aesthetic Rejuvenation Center for several cosmetic treatments, which I'll cover in a couple of reviews on Zwivel. This review will be about my experience with two Dermapen treatments.
Let me start off by saying that I had several concerns I was looking to eliminate when I met with Gleisys and Dr. Bruce Freund at Aesthetic Rejuvenation Center. I had acne scars that I had developed after suffering from cystic acne when I was in college back in the early 1990s. I also had lots of brown spots from excessive tanning and deep wrinkles that had formed around my eyes. I also had what I like to call 'crow's feet that had spread.' By this, I mean that that I had what most people call crow's feet, plus additional crow's feet that extended under my eyes. To treat my concerns, Dr. Freud recommended 4 treatment sessions: 1) Dermapen and Ultherapy 2) Dermapen, Microdermabrasion and an IPL photofacial 3) Xeomin 4) Belotera.
The Dermapen is a microneedling device that works by pressing very small needles into your skin to stimulate collagen induction therapy, which increases collagen production and helps tighten and smooth out your skin texture. The microneedling treatments themselves aren't long or painful. Pam, Dr. Freund's aesthetician, numbed my whole face and neck with prescription strength lidocaine. It was so strong, I didn't feel a single thing during my Dermapen procedure. Pam was very meticulous and took her time during my procedure. She also told me that a single treatment wouldn't fix my acne scars but multiple treatments, I would see good results. When my procedure was done, I had Ultherapy done but I'll save my experience with that treatment for a different review. I wasn't that red from the Dermapen but Ultherapy gave me what looked like a very bad sunburn 3 hours after my procedure.
Two weeks after my first Dermapen treatment, I had a second one. My experience with that treatment was the same as the first. I didn't have any pain during or after the procedure. I had a little redness, which quickly went away.
Since I had a combination of treatments together, it's hard to say how much the Dermapen did alone. The mixture of the Dermapen and Ultherapy did help with my skin texture and acne scarring (see attached photos). My skin looks better than it did prior to my skin treatments. My experience with Pam and Aesthetic Rejuvenation center was also very positive.
