Voluma XC Works Better For Lip Injections Than Restylane and Juvederm
Procedure specific satisfaction rating
I have tried every type of lip filler on the market. I've tried Restylane, Juvederm, Volbella and Voluma XC. In fact, if you read the 'lip augmentation' reviews section on Zwivel, you'll probably see quite a few of my reviews. I am 'big' into lip fillers and have quite the mixed experience with them. The main issue I have had with the various fillers I've tried, is they do not last long enough. With Restylane and Juvederm, I had to get lip injections every 4-6 weeks, which was very expensive and time consuming. Throw in the post-injection swelling and sometimes bruising that came along with Juvederm and especially Restylane, and it wasn't practical for me to keep getting these dermal fillers.
At the recommendation of Naomi Henderson, a very experienced injector, who works at my plastic surgeon's office, Dr. Brett Stompro, I decided to try Juvederm Voluma XC. At the time, Voluma was the newest FDA approved filler on the market, so I figured why not and gave it a try. My doctor said it would be a good filler to build up more definition in my top lip and around the bottom. Naomi injected Voluma as my doctor advised and it created a little bit of a duck look, but I needed it, because I had some volume loss after trying Juvederm and Restylane, and needed my lips to have more definition.
The injections themselves were very similar to my previous experiences. I didn't experience any real pain, only pinches at the needle went into my lips. I also happened to have a little filler left after my lips were done, and Naomi asked if I wanted it injected under my eyes, since I had some creases there. I said yes and it really did help out the few creases I had.
After receiving my injections, I didn't experience much swelling or bruising, and my injections went in very smoothly. I also didn't have any bumps from the injections, which I did experience after having Restylane injected.
My Voluma injections ended up lasting 4 months, which was longer than the 4-6 weeks I was used to with Juvederm and Restylane. The only other lip filler that I like more than Voluma, is Volbella, which has lasted longer than every other filler I've tried. Voluma is extremely smooth though and I really love the way it makes my lips looks. It's also a bit more expensive than Juvederm and Restylane, at a little over $600 per injection session.
In the end, I would recommend Voluma for lip injections, because it is a great filler. The only reason I prefer Volbella over it is because it's longer lasting, but for some people, Voluma may last just as long. Voluma is also better than Restylane and Juvederm for lip injections IMO, but even better for smoothing out under eye creases (great facial filler). With all of this being said, your experience with these fillers will really depend on how quickly your body metabolizes the hyaluronic acid in the fillers. Every person will be different. I feel like Voluma caused my lips to be fuller and larger in the morning and as the day progressed, my lips lost some volume. I asked my injector if what I was seeing was normal and she said it was due to blood flow. It is slightly annoying to wake up with full lips and then when it's time to party, you feel like your lips are smaller. Besides this, I was happy with my lip enhancement procedure.
