Went For a Coolsculpting Treatment After Spanx No Longer Worked
Procedure specific satisfaction rating
I decided to have a Coolsculpting treatment done when my Spanx no longer worked at hiding my belly well enough. I was becoming self-conscious about the belly fat that I had. I had heard of Coolsculpting a few years ago and thought it was an interesting concept but did not look further into it at the time. That was until someone left a comment on a Facebook photo of mine, asking if I was pregnant! Since I was all dolled up and felt like I looked cute in the picture, I was pretty offended. It definitely hurt my self-esteem. Thanks a lot! That's when I really thought okay, I am going to look into Coolsculpting seriously and see if it could help out my lower abdomen. I didn't want to get a tummy tuck because I didn't want to take time off from work, so the coolsculpting procedure seemed ideal. I am also a smaller woman to begin with, and I wondered if it was necessary for me to have surgery.
I had my Coolsculpting treatment done at Evergreen Family Medicine and Medical Spa in Evergreen Park, IL. The process was fast and easy. I only had a single treatment to the central area of my lower abdomen.
The process involved the Coolsculpting technician putting a cold, slimy protective cloth over my belly to prevent me from getting frostbite. Then she applied the Coolsculpting machine's applicator tip, which looks like a cup. The machine then turned on a sucked my belly fat into the cup. It was a bit uncomfortable at first - not paint, but a little hard for me to breathe because it was sucking in my abdominal fat. I felt like my diapgragm couldn't move well because of this, but after a few minutes my stomach went numb. I could breathe fine after that and I read a book for the rest of the treatment. My doctor came in after about 20 minutes to see how I was doing and asked if I had any questions. The whole treatment took about an hour.
After the procedure, the technician massages the block of ice, which is your stomach, back down to normal. It was red, cold, and numb right after the applicator was removed from my belly. Over the next month, I experienced swelling at the beginning and I would get little sharp pains here and there. The pains weren't horrible but came on suddenly. I also experienced a lot of itching on my belly. Some people online describe this feeling as 'nerve pain.' I'm not sure what it was, but I felt it. After about 3-4 weeks, I didn't feel anything else. No more pain, swelling or itching.
My Coolsculpting experience was great. If I need another treatment, I would totally do it again. My final results were great and I believe it was worth every penny I spent on it. I've included the week 1 and week 12 results pictures that I took. Please post below and let me know if you have any questions. I'd be more than happy to answer them!
