I too had the same problem. My nose was bigger and asymmetrical. My face is very small and that nose shape never suited me. I underwent a rhinoplasty operation ( http://www.rhinoplasty.ca/rhinoplasty-surgery/ ) from a clinic in Canada. I was also scared at first. But there is nothing as we fear. The ultimate result will make us happy. Now, I have a long and slender nose. It is shocking to realize how the shape of a nose can make a difference in the total appearance of a person.

Hi,

I had my rhinoplasty done 3 years ago and it was not too bad, there was definitely discomfort but I was in excruciating pain.  The first week I took pain meds when needed, which was not that often.  I had bruising and swelling and it lasted a little while, but everyday it got better and better.  I had my cast removed after the first week and then I went back to work and after 2 weeks I went back to the gym, just did walking on the treadmill or walked my dog, nothing strenuous.  Of course you must get clearance from your doctor first.

I was very nervous too but I had a great surgeon and that makes all the difference in the world.  Good Luck!!

I had a rhinoplasty 6 years ago. I'd recommend you do some thorough research. A rhinoplasty requires a tremendous amount of surgical and artistic skill. An inexperienced rhinoplasty doctor can create a nightmare for you! Find a facial plastic or plastic surgeon who has a lot of experience with noses. Ideally, you want a doctor who has done 700 rhinoplasty cases or more. Some well known rhinoplasty doctors in the US are Grigorants, Turk, Tabbal, Rohrich, Kanodia and Toriumi.

I can tell you that in the hands of a good doctor, a rhinoplasty is not that bad. Expect to not do much for two weeks after the procedure. You will not be in much pain, but your nose will be very swollen and they will place bandages on both the inside and outside of your nose. The tip of my nose was slightly swollen for a year after the procedure. The biggest issue I had in getting a rhinoplasty was that I wasn't sure if I liked my face more or less after the procedure. After looking at my face with my old nose for so many years, it was tough to look at my face with a new nose. It took some getting used to, but I eventually loved the way I looked. My doctor left me with a very natural result and I am extremely happy.

As long as you do your research, I'm confident you'll be happy with your decision.

Very insightful reply. Thank you!

Thank you motherof4 for sharing your experience!!

I had a nose job a few years ago primarily to correct the result of two broken noses! I was also afraid at first since at the time I hadn't had any other cosmetic work done. Honestly for me it was all about finding the right doctor, and once I did I felt at ease. I love my new nose!
