Are Hypertrophic Scars different than Keloid Scars?
What are the difference between these two types of scars? I think that I have a keloid scar on my upper back but after doing some research I am not so sure if I diagnosed it correctly. Thanks in advance!
Keloid formation can occur due to any type of skin injury. Hypertrophic scars look similar but do not grow beyond the borders of the injured area. Keloids, on the other hand, spread beyond the boundaries of the initial skin injury and often continue to grow over time. Keloids are also usually very thick — thicker than hypertrophic scars.
