What should I do to be fully prepared for a tummy tuck?

I am 31 and I have one kid. Actually, I got married young and we tried so much to have a baby and finally had to use IVF. I had my little one at 29. After I had my girl, I realized that my skin got stretched so bad that it started to sag and it looked sick. I have plenty of stretch marks and my skin near the abdomen has become very loose. I wish I go back to my old self. I have not been able to wear any of my swimsuits or my crop tops. My sister came to the rescue by recommending me to her doctor back in Toronto. When I met him, he told me that that I would have to get an abdominoplasty with liposuction instead of the mini one. Does this procedure have any major side effects? Will all the marks go completely? Will I be able to take care of my kid right after the surgery? Or should I wait for several weeks? Kindly share your thoughts!

If you have significant excess skin and stretch marks, you would likely need a full abdominoplasty. In a healthy patient there are minimal long term risks and side effects aside from the scars. There is a moderate recovery time to heal which would involve no heavy lifting (including a toddler) for 6 weeks. If you have some help, I have taken care of plenty of mothers that are able to recover with young children. Otherwise, you could always wait until your daughter is a little older.
